Johnny Chan

Johnny Chan was born in Guangzhou, China in 1957.

Johnny now calls Las Vegas, Nevada home. As a youngster he was moved around by his family from China to Hong Kong, to Arizona and finally settled in Houston, Texas. His first experience of Las Vegas was at the age of 16, later on at 21 he dropped out of his university to pursue a career as a professional gambler and poker player.

He became the first poker player to win 10 World Series of Poker bracelets in 2005, he also won consecutive main event titles in 1987 and 1988, the latter of which was featured in the movie Rounders. He also has the most wins (3 from 4 appearances) on the NBC show Poker After Dark which features $20,000 buyin 6-player tournaments.

He is the author and co-author of several poker instructional books, mainly focusing on Limit games. Johnny Chan's vast experience in the poker world coupled with his player image makes him an opponent many professional players fear.

Currently Johnny Chan has six children, regularly writes articles for CardPlayer and Trader Monthly magazines and acts as a consultant for casinos. He also is the face of ChanPoker, his own online poker room which is gaining popularity at a steady rate and also has no plans to stop putting his famous trademark orange on his table.
